The Courtyard of Honour and Italian gardens

The Courtyard of Honour offers beautiful views of the Italian gardens of the park, but in particularly of the façade wall which is registered as a historical monument. The facades which are made up of finely chiseled gargoyles, who represent the 7 virtues, are the work of Nicolas Bachelier, a celebrated student of Michel-Ange.

Orange gardens

Raised upon a wrought iron frame, the orange gardens are inspired by the entrance halls of the “Gustave Eiffel” train station. Here you can find several different species of palm trees surrounding the small fountains. This exotic garden is situated in the centre of the castle and it leads directly to the interior courtyard, from here the most beautiful parts of the castle can be seen.

The « François 1^er »dining room

The old 16^th century dining room is distinguished by its monumental fireplace and it’s surrounding stone sculptures by a student of Michel-Ange. These sculptures add to the red velvet tapestry which gives the room a stately feel whilst still remaining welcoming.

The “Marquise de Pompadour” sitting room

This elegant and bright room is decorated with woodwork dating from Louis XV which belonged to the Choisy-le-Roi castle.
